Mixed media
The first art class I took was in 2008, and it was a collage and mixed media class. I made many pieces, and a few still hang on my walls. Many are hidden away in a plastic bin in the closet. I took a different mixed media class in 2021 and again in 2022.
Now I have a second bin filled with art, because here’s the truth of it, I want to paint every day. I crave the meditative experience. For two or three hours, and sometimes more, I am focused on one thing. Not a pandemic, or a war, or any of our collective contemporary concerns. I can focus on art.
